Walk through the narrow streets of Coimbra and admire the Republicas

Explore the city of Coimbra on a walking tour! After meeting your tour guide, start your journey with a walk up towards Coimbra University, the most ancient and important university in the country. Here you can find the Biblioteca Joanina (ancient university library), built in the Baroque style, considered one of the most beautiful in the world.

Walk through the narrow streets of Coimbra and admire the Republicas, where students live in community. Visit the New Cathedral and the Old Cathedral with its monumental staircase, where the students sing the traditional serenata every year.

Walk down the Quebra-Costas to admire the Almedina — the walled part of the ancient Moorish Coimbra — and enter the 900-year-old Monastery of Santa Cruz to see the tombs where the first two kings of Portugal rest in peace!

Explore the old Jewish Quarter, where you are able to admire all kinds of traditional shops still in business. After, visit Santa-Clara-a-Velha Convent, where an important and miraculous queen of Portugal, Santa Isabel, lived and died. Walk back to the meeting point to end your tour.
